I am sure you will join me in giving a warm SBC welcome to Audrey Watson, our new and somewhat attractive lady bowler.
What a fantastic fund raising day today at Swindon Bowls club who hosted a bowls match between The Dennyside Bowls Association and the John Austin invitation team, in aid of Swindon guide dogs for the blind. From donations and raffles £2,700 was raised. Players travelled from far afield from 14 counties including Nottinghamshire, Suffolk, Cornwall plus of course members from Swindon BC and other local clubs.
A big thank you to Alison White, Sandra Porte, Susan Herridge, Jean McCaffrey and Julie Watson for the catering plus June Johns for running the bar and Pam Wheeler for the raffle.
Swindon Bowls Club have once again hosted an event with students from St Joseph’s School.
In the morning of Tuesday 18th July, we had 22 students and in the afternoon 28, plus 3 members of staff during each session.
Both the students and staff enjoyed themselves immensely.
Carl and I wish to thank Cathleen Goddard, Terry Baker and Den Blaxhall for their assistance, without which we would not have been able to manage.
Below, is an inclusion for the School’s Newsletter and some photos.
“Thanks to our friends at Swindon Bowls Club for hosting us during the Activities Week. Students received instruction on the fine art of lawn bowls. We all had a wonderful time learning a new sport and we look forward to working with them again in the future”.
A very enjoyable evening at the Club, where over £300 was raised for the Brighter Futures GWH Scanner Appeal.
A big thank you to Janet Lewis for organising the evening, Mike Gordon for the tough quiz, Jim O’Leary for the Bingo, Carl Fernandes for manning the bar and everyone who attended and helped to make it a great success.
