Dennyside Bowling Association v John Austin’s Select Team. £2700 raised for Swindon Guide Dogs for the blind.
What a fantastic fund raising day today at Swindon Bowls club who hosted a bowls match between The Dennyside Bowls Association and the John Austin invitation team, in aid of Swindon guide dogs for the blind. From donations and raffles £2,700 was raised.
Players travelled from far afield from 14 counties including Nottinghamshire, Suffolk, Cornwall plus of course members from Swindon BC and other local clubs.
A big thank you to Alison White, Sandra Porte, Susan Herridge, Jean McCaffrey and Julie Watson for the catering plus June Johns for running the bar and Pam Wheeler for the raffle.
Swindon Bowls Club hosts St Joseph’s School Students
Swindon Bowls Club have once again hosted an event with students from St Joseph’s School.
In the morning of Tuesday 18th July, we had 22 students and in the afternoon 28, plus 3 members of staff during each session.
Both the students and staff enjoyed themselves immensely.
Carl and I wish to thank Cathleen Goddard, Terry Baker and Den Blaxhall for their assistance, without which we would not have been able to manage.

St Patrick’s Day Charity Evening
A very enjoyable evening at the Club, where over £300 was raised for the Brighter Futures GWH Scanner Appeal.
A big thank you to Janet Lewis for organising the evening, Mike Gordon for the tough quiz, Jim O’Leary for the Bingo, Carl Fernandes for manning the bar and everyone who attended and helped to make it a great success.
Howard Pryse Awarded Bowls England Life Membership
Congratulations to our very own Howard Pryse for being awarded Bowls England Life Membership.
This prestigious award is in recognition of Howard’s outstanding services to the sport at Club, County and National level.

Geoff Porte Receives his Champion of Champions Trophy
On the 10th of September 2016, Geoff Porte beat Tom Pittuck in the finals held at Devizes, to become Bowls Wiltshire Champion of Champions.
On 19th of November, Geoff was honoured at the County Dinner in Melksham, where he received his impressive trophy from Bowls Wiltshire County President Mr Peter Sanders, ably supported by members of Swindon Bowls Club.
Well done Geoff, we are all so proud of your achievement.
Bowls Wiltshire Competitions 2017
Entry sheets for the 2017 Bowls Wiltshire Competitions are now on display in the men’s changing room.
Closing dates for entry is as follows:
2 Wood Singles, 4 Wood Singles, Pairs, Triples, Fours and Seniors Fours (over 55s) is 30th November 2016.
Unbadged Singles and Over 60s Triples is 31st December 2016.
All members are actively encouraged to represent our club and participate in these competitions.
Thursday Cards Evenings
A note for your diary.
Cards Evenings are now taking place on Thursday evenings and will run throughout the winter until the opening of the green in April 2020
Why not come along and enjoy a relaxed and pleasant evening of cards, join in the current games, or learn some new ones.
The evening runs from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm and all members are welcome.
